Some of these men had come from the 19th and 20th (Reserve) West Yorkshire Battalions that fed into the active front-line unit of the 10th (Service) Battalion, West Yorkshire Regiment and were killed with this battalion at Fricourt on 1 July 1916.
Others had been transferred to 10th West Yorkshire Regiment from the 2nd Bradford Pals early in 1916 and were also killed with the 10th (Service) Battalion, at Fricourt on 1 July 1916.
